All Reviews Couples Families. The hotel was beautiful and in a great location, my room also had a great view! New so spotless, but located close to train tracks.
And the trains come through overnight. We were there in February, and our fourth-floor room was overly warm.
Our double room was smallish, but had a great river view. Staff is best feature -- courteous, solicitous and friendly. I called later about an item we left behind.
They located it and helped arrange to ship it back to us. I would stay again. Everything about this hotel was fantastic! New construction and facilities made for a great stay.
The staff was respectful and accommodating in every possible fashion. Thrilled to have been able to stay here and be so close to downtown Des Moines for the Des Moines marathon!

Clean and friendly staff. Very clean, the pool was warm which was a plus. Was great facility with excellent accommodations and service.
The breakfast had a decent amount of variety. The room was clean. Breakfast included was very well done. Lots of great options offered and food was fresh.
Location to Airport, Cleanliness, staff was fantastic!!!!!! It was a privilege to stay here. The staff was friendly abd nice, the room amazing.
The hit breakfast was better then I expected. Not fancy, but very clean and quiet with good amenities.
The guy in the breakfast area was a little over the top. He was a bit growley pushing people through like cattle. We lost electricity for a few hours one morning which would have been troublesome if we had an important meeting to be at.
The fire alarms also went off at one point. The hotel was smoke free, but there were smokers hanging out within 2 feet of the door pretty much at all times, at all hotel entrances.
No ice machine in whole building. Existing ice machine has obviously been out service for weeks. There was actual dust. Room was not a good value.

The location being close to the Iowa Events Center is perfect. Staff was helpful and friendly! The room was clean and comfortable.
The mattress was quite hard but the down comforter and pillows made up for it. The restaurant had friendly bartenders and good drinks.
Didn't try the food but saw what others near us were ordering and it looked yummy. Overall we had a great hotel stay and I would go here again.
Once we were in, however, the food and the coffee were just fine. We had a double bed room and both beds felt completely worn out.
The mattress' dipped in the middle. Could not get comfortable, poor nights sleep. We provide complimentary airport shuttle and local shuttle to these locations.
Complimentary parking and Wifi are included as well. Our hotel features 6 flexible meeting rooms that can be arranged in variety of styles.
Our dedicated staff is here to welcome you and make your stay comfortable and enjoyable! Close to Downtown Des Moines and the interstate.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast buffet was pretty good, and everything was very clean. Our room had a great view of downtown.
The beds were super comfortable! The location was great, easy access from the interstate and very close to downtown. The staff was very friendly. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.
The room was sweltering hot the whole time 85 degrees. The staff said you could open the window, but it seemed to be locked shut with no way to open it.
Excellent for big rigs or smaller rigs and campers. The entrance is in front of the cemetery on Dean St or you can go through the fairground.
You could get shaded or not shaded spots and they only have a few sections that are 50A. There were a few trees we had to avoid so it wouldn't scratch the coach but it was overall perfect.
Lots of places to walk and also close to downtown Des Moines. This is my second review. We stayed for another month. They now offer a monthly rate!
If you're here when there's not an event going on, it's like having your own property. Don't anticipate the campground entrance gate on Dean Avenue to be open; usually only open when big events are going on.
Drive east and turn right on Hoover Ave to head up a hill to a campground gate. If you turn on Vermeer Lane, that's okay too.
This brings you in Gate 5 on B Ave. The campground host no longer lives in the house office in the campground. I was told there are only FOUR sites with 50 amp full hookups.
We got an adapter that had 2 amp male to 1 amp female. Most of the posts have 2 or more amp outlets.
This time we camped in row C of Area 2. We haven't explored much of the other areas, but Area 2 and 3 are the most popular and probably the most level.
We had no problem leveling our 40' fifth wheel. If parking below a hill, beware of water runoff during storms. We ended up occupying about sites with our extra vehicles; the host never confronted us.
Someone was out mowing pretty much everyday. If the grass is getting too long around your site, flag down the mower and they'll take care of it.
Very nice staff all-around here. Great place to watch fireworks during July 4th. Quiet here except during the holiday and the car show. Finished another five month season living in the campground as part of the work camper force at Adventureland Amusement Park.
Site is comped as part of our employment. Park is large with large amount of pull throughs and good amount of "circles" that have 10 sites per circle.
Power is constant with good water pressure which is very good for a campground this size, and sewer drops are placed well in the sites.
Campground office receives mail and packages during the season and sells souvenirs, ice, and propane.
At times there were complaints of sewer odors so the remodeling was put on the table this year. So to sum up, the park is starting to show its age a little but I believe they are heading in the right direction and it remains a good value due to its location, close to shopping, new hotels, casino across the street, new outlet mall and within 10 to 15 minutes from Des Moines.
The biggest issue I have with this campground, where we've stayed in teh past, is that approaching from I, the entrance road is almost impossible to see and the sign reads parallel to the road Adventureland Drive such that you're passing it before you see it.
Other than that, we really like this for a one or multi-night stay. If the tornado alarms sound, as they did last evening, head for one of the cinder block bathrooms called comfort stations on the campground map.
Fortunately, while we got lots of wind, rain and some hail, the tornadoes which precipitated the alarms bypassed us! Entrance is difficult to find, and others have complained about it.
Adventureland signs are confusing and some are inaccurate. The only telephone number I could find for help was the hotel reservation at Adventureland Inn.
The receptionist there was untrained, had no idea of how to direct me to the campground, gave inaccurate directions and instructions three times, despite the fact that i was only yard away.
When I eventually got to the campground office, during check in I felt that the person checking me in didn't have time or the interest to answer my questions reasonably, because the office closes at 5 and it was 4.
Most campers arrive for registration late afternoon early evening. So it makes no sense in a big park to close the office so early. I reserved a pull through with 50 amp, water and sewer which I got.
But 5 minutes after I plugged into the power it shut off. When I examined the box, it had thrown the 30 AMP breakers!!! In a 50 amp box. I called the Adventureland Inn, which is your contact after 5 PPM, but the receptionist knew nothing about the campground or maintenance???
She tried calling the campground office, despite me telling her it was closed. Eventually she asked someone, who knew how to send out maintenance.
Sure enough, maintenance showed up and said someone had installed 30 amp breakers in a 50 amp box. They changed the breakers and power was fine.
The fifth wheel to my left had two vans and a truck parked? The fifth wheel to the right had a van, a truck and a Harley, and three dogs staked outside.
The camper opposite has a dog outside yapping non stop. This campsite could be really good, but appears to lack strong management.
Sites are spacious and shaded. CG is usually full on the weekends. We camp there a number of times every year and usually have to get there Thursday AM to get a site.
Restrooms are cleaned every day but with the usage of the CG they get messed up pretty quick. All in all it is a very nice CG.
There is a large pond, recreation area for the kids, horse shoe pits, hiking trails, boat access to the Des Moines River, large tent camping area, ball fields and a number of shelters available for rental.
We realized going in they did not have water and sewer hookups, but still enjoyed the place. Friendly campground host, came to our site and visited - got acquainted.
Would certainly go back again. We did not plan to be at this park when our trip started. We called them when we discovered a need to stop for a couple of nights.
Found a site available and invited us to stay. This park is excellent. Wide grassy spaces between sites. Full hook ups at every site.
Landscape lava rock around the concrete pad made hook ups easy and clean. We have air leveling only, and it didn't have to do much to level the coach.
Only downside is sort of hard to find, but GPS solves that. Also some of the rooms are being remodeled but does not affect the guest areas.
Excellent customer service at front desk while checking in. Really attractive lobby area - just like a lodge! Our room was wonderful! Hotel was even nicer than I expected!
We stayed in whirlpool suite room I was surprised that there wasn't a mini-fridge, that was the only drawback. They are currently remodeling some of their rooms, but I only noticed the sounds of the work during the daytime hours.
They hotel was very focused on cleanliness and smelled nice. The morning breakfasts are a bit more special than your ordinary hot continental breakfast.
We stayed 2 nights and I was disappointed that there were only belgian waffles one of the mornings, but there were other They make the eggs right out in the open and are very attentive to their food and making sure it is all nicely prepped and displayed.
There is a nice firepit outside in the front that they light nightly with chairs around. Pool and exercise room were clean and adequate.
However, would be nice to have a small selection of free weights. Hotel was nice to give me a late checkout and were friendly.
I will definitely be staying again given the opportunity! I wish there were MORE stars! We are blown away with the review you gave us.
It is our ultimate goal, that each guest has a great stay and it is what we strive for with each guest. Glad you had a great time and we hope you will join us again soon.
Weekend Getaway We stayed there for 2 nights during the Memorial Day weekend. The hotel is tucked away in the back lot surrounded by other hotels and chain restaurant.
It was a quiet location. Check in was quick and we assigned the room in the top floor as requested. Upon entering the room, it was spacious with typical amenities like refrigerator and coffee maker.
The door mirror off the bathroom door was taken off leaving the adhesive stain, which is an eyesore but other than that, it looked like a nice clean room.
The fire alarm was making chirping sound and a Maintenance was called again and he replaced with a new fire alarm. The free breakfast had the typical food options pastries, waffles, sausage and egg, etc.
The breakfast area was right at the main lobby so it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded like the other hotel's setting, though the scattering of the food stations mean people always roaming around.
The hotel also has other amenities like board games on the lobby and pool, which we didn't use. It was a very good stay and value for the money, the only draw back was the slow internet and the door might slam loudly, which is more of a nuisance but it didn't bother us too much.
If we return to Des Moines area, we would definitely consider or return to the Wildwood Lodge. From the friendly staff to the great room, we enjoyed it all.
And at a great price! There were towel art swans on the jetted tub. The room layout was great. The in room jetted tub was the best we've ever used, and I've gotten them in many hotels, some that I paid a lot more for the room.
The breakfast in the morning was great. They were preparing the scrambled eggs right in front of us! There is an outdoor firepit that looked very inviting, we just ran out of time to try it.
Hidden Gem I was driving cross country from east to west, was tired and really needed a place to relax and sleep.
I found this hotel using a different app because the price through trip adviser was higher.Ein Fehler ist aufgetreten. Strangely cool, retro atrium area. Not worth anywhere near the money we paid. Really nothing to do in the nearby area, and the hotel is in desperate need of renovation.
Staff was a bit "ho-hum" about everything. Pool was freezing cold and way too deep for younger kids - 9'0" in the deep end, going down sharply from 3'0" in the shallow end.
The "Video Arcade" features mostly broken games and there is no change machine. The term "Restaurant" is also a strong word. This makes getting to all Des Moines area attractions a breeze.

Hampton Inn Des Moines-Airport. Featured amenities include a hour business center, express check-out, and complimentary newspapers in the lobby. Great value for a clean, comfortable room.
It's not the nicest hotel, but they have thought of the essentials. The hotel is right by the airport, which was great for our early departure.
Otherwise, it's about minutes to get into the downtown area but the drive is easy. My room was right across from the ice machine and it was very loud.
I would put a door on the ice machine area and put a more sound proof door on the those rooms. Everything was pretty nice.
If I had to comment on one thing, the room appeared updated but the bathroom was a bit dated. It was still clean and functional, but cramped for my wife and I.

Great breakfast, very comfortable bed, very clean, and modern furnishings. The hotel was clean. The breakfast was okay but we were disappointed with the variety offered.
I thought it would be a nice staycatoon and had a nice pool. The renovations to the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are big, beds are comfy, showers are great, and thankfully the front desk has free iced water with fruit infusion as well as ameinities you may need that you forgot on your travels.
The free WIFI worked like a charm. Cable TV is outstanding! Shuttle driver was supposed to be on call until midnight.
When I called from the airport at The pool and whirlpool were not labelled and we were unable to locate them. The pool area needed repairs and we could have used the whirlpool after the long drive and many hours in a classroom.
They had two groups of kids booked into the hotel. Would have been fine if they were staffed properly to handle that amount of guests. They left messes everywhere they went especially the adults , disturbed other guests and their parent paid no attention to it.
If I she had had anytime I would have demanded a refund and gone home. The front desk has a little store next to it and unfortunately they were scarce on items that someone may need.

Greater location, rooms, and friendly staff. Great view, lovely space. Like most Embassy Suites, a very nice property, suites with plenty of room, great beds and bedding.
I was told all about the city selling parking lot to private investor who is building a parking garage but that is not my problem.
If you don't have acceptable parking options don't charge me a premium to park. Inadequate parking options just aren't acceptable and we'll look for another place to stay next time.
The hotel bar and staff leave a lot to be desired! Valet parking at a very high for the market price was the only parking option. Room was warm and musty, didn't cool well.
Not to mention the breakfast and snacks from 5 to 7pm! I have no complaints and will use The Wildwood Lodge for all my personal trips in the future.
